Food Programs Supervisor, Capital Area Food Bank, Austin, TX 2010-Present
- Coordinate Capital Area Food Bank’s first year with Summer Food Service Program. Program of 54 days provided over 34,000 meals to children at 23 sites across Travis County.
- Coordinate participation in additional federal and state programs. Currently starting up At-Risk Snack Program as part of USDA’s Child and Adult Center Food Program.
Food and Faith VISTA, Capital Area Food Bank, Austin, TX 2008-2009
- AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteer in Service to America), responsible for cultivating faith-based community to encourage participation in the work of the Capital Area Food Bank.
- Plan Food and Faith Networking Session. Tasks included drafting invitations, creating e-mail merge to send invitations, securing catering and guest speakers, setting agenda and tracking RSVPs. Event resulted in increased Food Bank visibility in faith-based community and several Food and Fund Drives among participants.
- Research faith based communities and schools in 21 county service area. Build contact lists consisting of 700 faith based leaders and 330 schools.
- Contact service area congregations, Austin area schools and youth groups to encourage participation in Souper Bowl of Caring, raising more than $17,000 and collecting 6624 items.
- Attend speaking engagements to inform community about the Capital Area Food Bank and hunger in Central Texas.
- Research neighborhood and home owner’s associations in the area to encourage Food and Fund Drive participation.
