   Representative McCaul,

   I’m writing in response to Representative Bachman’s mobilization efforts as regards health care.

   1) I support health care reform. I support, strongly support, a public option. Our current system, created through accident and happenstance, needs reform. I’m just not convinced a private market can effectively and efficiently provide this necessary public service.

   2) In a recent email, you stated that, “In short, I agree with the doctors from the Texas Medical Center who told me, ‘If Congress passes this bill, it will ruin the best healthcare system in the world.’” I’d still like to know the rationale for stating our healthcare system is the best in the world. With one person dying every 12 minutes for lack of adequate healthcare, that statement would appear to be false.
